2026 Championships

What an incredible Club Championships it was! Over several brilliant weeks, our courts were filled with fantastic tennis, close matches, great rivalries and plenty of unforgettable moments. Then came an absolutely Epic Finals Weekend. The sun played its part on both Friday and Saturday, the courts looked magnificent and the whole club was buzzing from start to finish. 

With brilliant tennis, fantastic support from the sidelines, the BBQ in full swing and members enjoying every minute, it was Glenalbyn at its very best. A huge thank-you to every member who took part. Whether you lifted a trophy, reached a final, played your first Championship match or battled through an absolute epic game along the way, you brought energy, sportsmanship and great club spirit to every event. The Championships are ultimately about our members—and you made this year’s tournament truly special.

Of course, an event of this scale doesn’t happen without an enormous amount of work behind the scenes. A massive well done to Cathy, Kevin, Cepta, Odhrán and Gary, who coordinated everything brilliantly and brought everything together so seamlessly for Finals Weekend. Their energy, commitment and organisation kept the entire tournament moving from the opening serve right through to the final point.

A very special thank-you also goes to Miriam Gormally, who did a fantastic job arranging all the junior events and ensuring that our younger players enjoyed their own brilliant Championships.

Our Finals Weekend BBQ was another major highlight, so a big shout-out to Pat Lynch and Gemma, along with everyone who helped with the food, cooking and serving. A special thank-you also goes to Eimear F, who seemed to be everywhere—helping with the BBQ, tickets and anything else that needed doing. Thanks to Pat R for expertly keeping the Prosecco & orange for the juniors flowing, and to Marion G, who arrived with what can only be described as approximately one million roulades for dessert!

Also, a big thank-you to Oisín R & John McC for collecting the umpire chairs and helping us give Finals Weekend the full championship treatment.

We are also incredibly grateful to every helper and volunteer who gave their time—in the lead up making the place look great, setting up, umpiring, preparing food, tidying, supporting the organisers or simply stepping in whenever something needed to be done. Every contribution, big or small, helped make the weekend the success it was. ❤️

Congratulations to all our champions, plate winners, finalists and participants. This was a very special Championships and a Finals Weekend that will live long in the memory.
